A record of our ownership of Sea Apple, a 1983 LM 26 Danish motorsailer
We've had a couple of heatwaves so far this summer and, atlhough heading out on Sea Apple seemed a great idea, during the hottest days in late June, we decided that leaving the house closed up would likely result in finding the internal temperature over 40°C when we returned, so waited until it cooled down just a bit.
We had a gentle motor in very little wind, passing RFA Argus at Falmouth Docks en route. She has been a regular visitor to Falmouth for many years.
Having had a night on the first pontoon up the River Fal last year, we opted to head further up into the Truro River for a night on the pontoon there. It was still quite hot but the cockpit tent on Sea Apple gives us the flexibility to have the roof up, side panels up or not and the aft section down or rolled up, giving great protection from the sun whilst still allowing the breeze through, or not, depending on temperature.
